This exploratory study focuses on Chinese international students enrolled in Master's degree programs at a major Canadian university, aiming to investigate the attitudes and experiences of Chinese international students with translanguaging pedagogy and plurilingual instructions and outcomes of these pedagogical approaches adopted in the classroom. The findings of this study show that an overwhelming number of Chinese international students expect the implementation of translanguaging pedagogy and plurilingual instructions. However, interview data demonstrate a high degree of misconceptions, misunderstandings, and misinterpretations of these two pedagogical concepts manifested among respondents. It is also found that the monolingual and monolithic model of language policy remains deeply entrenched in this English-medium higher education institution. Implications are suggested for how the implementation of translanguaging pedagogy and plurilingual instructions can contribute to prospering linguistic diversity, fostering cultural inclusivity, decolonizing incarceration of colonialingual ideologies, and enabling multilingual students to better navigate their academic journey.
