The effects of climate change on hydrological systems are becoming increasingly apparent, necessitating comprehensive research efforts to understand and mitigate associated hazards. This multidisciplinary dissertation investigates the impacts of climate change on hydrological systems and geological hazards across varying timescales and diverse geographic settings.First, the deglacial history of the Taylor River Glacier Complex (TRGC) in the Sawatch Range, Central Colorado, is examined through terrestrial cosmogenic nuclide (TCN) 10Be exposure dating. A detailed recessional chronology of the TRGC, supported by surficial geologic mapping and numerical paleo-glacier reconstruction is presented. This study estimated the maximum ice extent (~188 km2), thickness (~520 m), and volume (~22.7 km3) of the TRGC. The resulting ice retreat chronology offers insights into the glacier complex's response to past climate shifts, aligning broadly with regional deglaciation patterns while also revealing periods of rapid retreat. Second, paleoflood dendrochronological records from bur oak (Quercus macrocarpa Michx.) trees are examined within the U.S. Red River Basin. Existing records of anatomical anomalies in tree rings, from Wertz et al. (2013), were validated against instrumental peak flood records using a GIS-based spatial analysis. The study revealed a complex relationship between flood rings and instrumental data, with a low true positive rate (2.9%) and a significant number of false negatives (19.3%), potentially influenced by flood timing relative to the bur oak growing season. Moderate correlation was found between flood ring frequency and flood magnitude for three of the four study sites. Further, the potential to approximate paleoflood magnitudes based on calculated inundation thresholds was explored.Last, Short Baseline Subset (SBAS) Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) and LiDAR Digital Elevation Model (DEM) differencing are applied to detect ground-surface changes in landslide-prone hillslopes of western North Dakota. SBAS InSAR, using Sentinel-1 satellite data, identified Line of Sight (LOS) velocities indicative of ground movement within previously mapped landslide deposits. These signals often aligned with areas of significant elevation change detected by LiDAR DOD between 2014 and 2021/23, suggesting agreement between the two independent methods. The study demonstrates the potential of these low-cost, broad-scale monitoring techniques for identifying and tracking ground deformation in the region.
