It was recently shown that quantizing the gravitational field introduces stochastic noise in the arm length of a gravitational wave detector. This result was obtained by deriving a quantum-corrected geodesic deviation equation for timelike geodesics in linearized gravity. In the dissertation, an analysis of the effects of this quantum-gravitational noise on a congruence of timelike geodesics, and on a congruence of null geodesics is presented. The main results of this analysis are the leading order quantum corrections to the timelike and null Raychaudhuri equations. In both cases, the quantum corrections are negative, indicating that the focusing theorem also holds in linearized quantum gravity. Then, it is shown that the quantum-gravitational noise in nearby detectors is correlated. After deriving an equation of the noise correlation, this result is used to propose an experimental design capable of distinguishing the quantum-gravitational noise from other sources of noise. Additionally, the correlations in the quantum-gravitational noise between the arms of multiple gravitational wave interferometers is characterized. The last chapter of this dissertation contains the calculations for the probability amplitude of a process in which, starting from two particles described by Gaussian wave packets in momentum space, a soliton-antisoliton pair is produced.
