This qualitative case study examined how K-12 music educators in urban schools integrate students' cultural backgrounds, lived experiences, and identities into their teaching practices. Guided by the frameworks of Gloria Ladson-Billings' culturally relevant pedagogy and Geneva Gay's culturally responsive teaching, the study explored how cultural relevance influences teaching practices, student engagement, and learning outcomes in urban music classrooms. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with 12 music educators and analyzed using thematic coding aligned with the CRP domains of academic success, cultural competence, and critical consciousness. Findings revealed six overarching themes represented metaphorically through songs. This study contributes to the literature by amplifying music educators' voices and offering a model for operationalizing CRP in music classrooms.
