While numerous scholars have delved into the significance of exegeting one's assembly in preaching, a noticeable gap exists in the literature regarding the art of exegeting a congregation. Specifically, how a sermon can address a congregation's diverse experiences and needs without compromising the truth of the Gospel. This crucial aspect of preaching has often been left to the intuition of the local pastor or preacher. This study explores contextual preaching as a way of exegeting one's assembly to understand their experiences. This approach enables preachers to interpret scripture in a way that meets their congregations' specific needs and guides them toward becoming faithful disciples of Christ. This qualitative study aims to understand preachers' perceptions about how knowledge of their congregations' specific contexts enhances the effectiveness of their preaching ministry. The study thoroughly explores and reviews relevant literature, gathering available data on the evolution of contextual preaching over time. Additionally, the study examines the emergence of the relevance theory and the critical role congregational exegesis plays in enhancing contextual preaching. The study's findings offer essential guidance for seminarians and preachers, helping them to analyze their congregations and create a preaching style suited to their audience. This practical application of the study's findings will help preachers communicate God's Word effectively to their congregations.
