This study presents a comprehensive biblical-theological critique of the Pentecostal doctrine of separability and subsequence with regard to the baptism in the Holy Spirit, approached from a salvific-charismatic perspective. By examining the origin, development, and theological usage of key terms-and by critically analyzing the five major baptism in the Holy Spirit events (Acts 2, 8, 9, 10, 19) alongside Pauline, Johannine, and Lukan texts, particularly Peter's defenses in Acts 11 and 15-this research argues that baptism in the Holy Spirit is not a distinct post-conversion experience. Rather, it is both salvific and charismatic, integral to the believer's union with Christ, incorporation into the body of Christ, and empowerment for life, mission, and witness. Although not the primary focus, the doctrine of initial physical evidence (i.e., speaking in tongues) is addressed where relevant. Furthermore, this study contends that any post-salvific or subsequent works of the Spirit that empower, enlighten, renew, and transform are more appropriately identified with the New Testament terminology of being filled with the Holy Spirit (e.g., Acts 4:8, 31; 13:9; Eph. 5:18). By integrating Luke's pneumatological framework with Pauline and Johannine perspectives, this dissertation proposes a cohesive biblical paradigm that bridges Pentecostal and non-Pentecostal viewpoints and contributes to a more holistic understanding of the Spirit's role in salvation and the Christian life.
