This dissertation uses Internal Family Systems (IFS) theory as a lens to explore Job's monologues which address God in the biblical text. By examining these laments through the IFS framework, this research looks at the psychological conflict between Job's internal voices: his piety, despair, anger, and hope. Contrary to retribution theology, Job's speeches bear witness to the suffering of the innocent and the corresponding value of grief in prayer. Using IFS to view Job's response to the theophany of chapters 38-41, Job's transformation from demanding answers to accepting mystery is simultaneously seen as an unblending of Parts and an encounter with Job's inner, pious Self. Ultimately, the study highlights how Job's authentic and bold dialogue with God provides a hermeneutic model for navigating trauma, suggesting that healing arises from acknowledging and integrating conflicting internal Parts under the compassionate guidance of the Self.
