This dissertation explores the doctrinal preaching of Adrian Rogers, with a particular focus on his theology of the Holy Spirit. Adrian Rogers (1931-2005), a prominent Southern Baptist preacher and leader, was highly regarded for his expository preaching and his commitment to the authority of the Bible. His engaging sermons are still widely circulated today through his media ministry called Love Worth Finding. Rogers preached in ways that stayed rooted in Scripture, communicated complex theological truths in an accessible manner with a goal towards life transformation. This work examines Rogers' pneumatology - his doctrine of the Holy Spirit - as expressed through his sermons and writings during the pastorates of First Baptist Church, Merritt Island, Florida and Bellevue Baptist Church in Memphis, Tennessee. The research investigates the key influences on Rogers' theology of the Holy Spirit, including figures such as Bertha Smith, Stephen Olford, and Ian Thomas. Names and movements associated with Keswick theology and the Shantung Revival are explored. The research further analyzes how these influences shaped Rogers' preaching and how he communicated the work and Person of the Holy Spirit to his congregations. Topics such as the Spirit-filled life, the gifts of the Spirit, and the role of the Holy Spirit in the believer's personal sanctification and empowerment are explored through Rogers' sermons and writings.By examining Rogers' pneumatology, this dissertation also provides insights into his homiletical approach, particularly how he combined doctrinal preaching with expository methods. This study shows how preachers may maintain dependence upon the Holy Spirit throughout the process of developing and delivering their sermons. The study contributes to the field of homiletics by offering a model for preaching doctrinal messages on the Person and work of the Holy Spirit in an expository style, showing how Rogers' method can be applied by contemporary preachers. Through this research, the enduring significance of Adrian Rogers' preaching ministry is highlighted, especially his emphasis on the necessity of the Holy Spirit's power in the life of the believer and the preacher.
