The purpose of this dissertation is to enhance the communication, retention, and application of the expository sermon by utilizing a specific type of illustration. The weaved inclusio is a single image used to illustrate the sermon's big idea or main point. It is established in the introduction, woven throughout the body in the transitions, and revisited in the conclusion. By understanding the functions, biblical precedent, and benefits of the weaved inclusio, as well as the most receptive moments of learning, the preacher is encouraged to incorporate the following question into their homiletical process: Is there a weaved inclusio that could be employed to provide motive, clarity, understanding, and connection for the listener to the text and biblical principle being preached?
