This dissertation examines the biblical faithfulness of the Regulative Principle of Worship (RP) as a rule for governing corporate worship. Intertextual analysis of the commandment against idolatry and other RP prooftexts demonstrates that the RP is not scripturally supported. The RP is also evaluated against key doctrinal distinctives that derive from a credobaptistic understanding of the interworkings of the biblical covenants, particularly the newness of the New Covenant. The RP fails both tests and, therefore, should be rejected and replaced with more biblically faithful guidelines for corporate worship.
