This research is intended to be applicable to Catholic scholarship, parishes and dioceses, as well as Catholic universities. The data collected consists of evaluating various understandings of the problem of evil, Salvation History, and ethical leadership. This is done in order to formulate a narrative that brings the various conversation partners into dialogue with one another. The objective is to gain a better understanding of the connection among the problem of evil, Salvation History, and ethical leadership. The issue is that many skeptics use the problem of evil as evidence against the notion of the Christian God. However, the problem of evil has two forms: the logical and the evidential. Both of these forms are often entangled in classical philosophical and theological arguments. By disentangling these issues - the logical from the evidential - this work demonstrates that the reality of evil does not invalidate the existence of God. In merging classical theological inquiry with contemporary practical theology, this dissertation argues that ethical leadership in light of Salvation History can serve as a viable response to the problem of evil. Salvation History can also be used to form undergraduate college students to become ethical leaders in their own context who respond to evil.
