This study argues that all the psalms of Book One directly prophesy some aspect of the eschatological king's saving work. It contends that the historical superscriptions connect to the eschatological king by means of indirect prophecy and the poetic text by means of direct prophecy. It also sees seven cycles of psalms in Book One, with each emphasizing the trials and deliverance of the eschatological king. Finally, it argues that in the eschatological king's tribulation unto triumph, he fully identifies with his people in their sin, suffering, vindication, and victory. As such, Christ's prayers become the saints' songs.
