Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have emerged as a leading photovoltaic technology owing to their exceptional efficiency and ease of fabrication. However, achieving both high efficiency and long-term operational stability remains challenging, largely due to inherent defects and ion migration issues within perovskite films. In this study, we introduced TpPa-SO₃H, a sulfonic acid-functionalized ionic covalent organic framework (i-COF), as an additive to improve PSC performance and stability. Structural and morphological analyses, including X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), demonstrated enhanced crystallinity, larger grain sizes, and improved phase purity after TpPa-SO₃H incorporation. Photoluminescence (PL) and external quantum efficiency (EQE) measurements indicated significant reductions in non-radiative recombination and improved charge extraction. Stability testing under continuous illumination at elevated temperature (75 °C) confirmed the beneficial effects of the additive, with devices retaining approximately 90% of their initial efficiency after prolonged operation. Further analysis using ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy (UPS) revealed optimized energy-level alignment at interfaces, facilitating better charge transport. This work highlights the effectiveness of functionalized COFs as multifunctional additives for simultaneously enhancing the efficiency and operational stability of perovskite solar cells and points toward future directions involving AI-assisted discovery of tailored COF materials for photovoltaic applications.
