The dissertation explores the impact of psychological support services for bariatric patients, specifically following the "honeymoon phase," two years post-surgery. The study sought to better understand weight regain and the increase in mental health problems following this period. A cross-sectional quantitative study was conducted to assess the relationship between psychological support services and weight regain, body uneasiness, anxiety, stress, and depression. Participants were recruited through online surveys, and completed the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale-21 (DASS-21) measure and the Body Uneasiness Test (BUT) measure. Data were analyzed using SPSS. The results showed that while psychological services did not significantly prevent weight regain, higher weight regain was linked to increased body uneasiness, stress, and depression. These findings suggest that existing psychological support alone may not be enough, and other factors need to be explored. Further research should focus on standardized long-term care plans to improve mental health outcomes for post-bariatric patients.
