Organic single-crystalline heterojunctions have emerged as promising materials for various optoelectronic applications such as organic field-effect transistors (OFETs), organic phototransistors (OPTs), rectifier diodes, organic photovoltaics (OPVs), and so on. Heterojunctions based on low-dimensional organic single crystals with features of ultrathin thickness, flat surface, and highly ordered structure can potentially improve injection efficiency and enable efficient gate control for both optical and electrical modulation. Three challenges need to be addressed in the preparation and study of low-dimensional organic semiconductor single-crystalline heterojunctions in optoelectronic devices: 1) Efficient strategies for preparing high-quality low-dimensional organic single-crystalline heterojunctions. 2) Developing high-performance and novel devices based on low-dimensional organic single-crystalline heterojunctions. 3) Large-area fabrication of low-dimensional organic singlecrystalline heterojunctions for practical applications. In this thesis, we address these challenges by developing three novel heterojunctions based on lowdimensional single-crystalline heterojunctions and realize large-area fabrication through an efficient strategy. In the first part, we construct a novel configuration of p-n heterojunctions with p-type 1D organic single-crystalline arrays embedded in the n-type 2D organic single crystals to obtain high-performance negative phototransistors. The source and drain electrodes are pasted parallel to the 1D organic singlecrystalline arrays, which ensures the n-type transport of the device. The device can exhibit novel properties. For example, the phototransistors can always be kept off under light illumination. Repeatable on and off characteristics of transfer curves can be realized by programming the light signals. Besides, the threshold voltage of negative phototransistors can be precisely controlled by switching off the light in time. In addition to the novel properties, the heterojunction devices can also exhibit high photosensitivity (P) (1.2x108 ) and detectivity (D*) (1.7x1017 Jones) in absolute values under weak light (5.9 μW cm-2). Finally, light encoders that can encrypt electrical signals by light are developed based on the negative phototransistors. In the second part, we prepare a 2D organic single-crystalline heterojunction by a simple layer-by-layer stacking strategy to obtain highperformance bidirectional optoelectronic synaptic properties. The heterojunction shows prominent ambipolar property and high responsivity (R) of 3.58 x104 A W-1 under the weak light of 0.008 mW cm-2 . Novel properties with excitatory and inhibitory synaptic behaviors are achieved under constant negative and positive gate voltages combined with UV light pulses. Moreover, a superior contrast ratio (CR) of 1.53x103is obtained owing to the ultrathin thickness and flat surface of 2D single-crystalline heterojunctions. As a result, the potential application of detecting the swing of pendulum based on 2D organic single-crystalline heterojunctions is realized. Furthermore, a motion detection network based on the devices is developed to detect and recognize classic motion vehicles in road traffic with the accuracy exceeding 90%.In the third part, we develop a novel capillary-bridge pinning crystallization method to prepare large-area 2D organic single crystals, laying the foundation for the scaling up of 2D single-crystalline heterojunctions. Millimeter-sized 2D organic single-crystalline heterojunctions are further obtained by the layer-by-layer stacking method. OFET devices with bottomgate top-contact configuration based on the 2D organic single-crystalline heterojunctions show ambipolar transport properties. Under UV light illumination, multifunctional optoelectronic properties that combine photodetection and visual adaptation behavior are achieved by changing VGS.
