Atypical psychotropic medication is an essential key element in managing patients with serious mental illness. Mentally ill patients benefit greatly while on atypical psychotropic medications, and non-adherence could be fatal to overall health. The project's purpose is to promote atypical psychotropic medications among adult patients by implementing the evidence-based smart app Mango Health for improving adherence. Lack of knowledge on atypical psychotropic medication could lead to non-adherence and poorer health outcomes. Convenient sampling was utilized to select 25 participants at Foothills Psychological Services clinics Inc., located at 954 W. Foothills Blvd. Suite A, in Upland, CA. 91786. A quasi-experimental pre and post-test study design were applied to determine the value of promoting atypical psychotropic medications through educating adult patients with mental illness. A blood level test, weight, BMI, and an adherence questionnaire were performed initially and at the terminal stage of project to evaluate results. The primary outcome of the project was adherence to atypical psychotropic medications. In addition, a paired t-test was performed to assess the significance of implementing an evidence-based smart app. Based on the project's outcomes, intervention caused an overall improvement in health status. BMI was reduced by 3.0 kg/m2 in all patients. On average, participants' weight decreased by 2.8 pounds while glucose level was also significantly reduced pre- to post-intervention by a mean difference = 27.0 mg/dL. Therefore, intervening technologically using the smart app, Mango Health improved adherence among adults on atypical psychotropic medications.
