In an era dominated by increasingly powerful artificial intelligence, understanding the evolving nature of media literacy has become critically important. This study introduces the "Digital Sidewalk" as a paradigm for understanding community dynamics in decentralized spaces, inspired by Jane Jacobs's work on community life and Mitchell Duneier's ethnographic insights in Sidewalk. At the center of this exploration is Buildspace, a decentralized learning community described as a "Hogwarts for builders and dreamers," where participants group into "houses" reminiscent of Harry Potter narratives to foster engagement and learning. Drawing on entertainment-education social frameworks, indirect learning, and Gordon Pask's Interaction of Actors Theory, this research examines how media literacy is cultivated within hybrid transmedia ecosystems. Ethnographic findings from participant interviews and field observations reveal that immersive storytelling, peer collaboration, and decentralized participation create distinctive learning experiences. This study introduces the "Digital Sidewalk" paradigm, providing a foundation for understanding emerging trends and highlighting innovative pathways for future research into how decentralized, narrative-rich environments uniquely shape media literacy within communities that originate online yet expand into blended networks.
