This project sought to explore a particular community of faith's experience of the Christmas collects of the Roman Rite, and comprehension of the Church's theology of divinization as articulated therein. The thesis of this project is that the Christmas collects from the 2011 translation of the Roman Missal are more difficult to understand, let alone explicitly hear the theology of theosis, than are the collects from the 1970 Sacramentary, or pre-2011 English translation of the Missale Romanum, for the same Masses. The study proved otherwise; the current 2011 translation was not a hindrance for the liturgical assembly's comprehension. Greater emphasis on divinization in liturgical catechesis and formation is needed for a deeper appreciation of this theological reality.
