A relationship marketing strategy is one of most common approaches used in the business world to build and maintain a good relationship between suppliers and customers for long-term business. Relationship marketing is defined as a marketing process where firms create and maintain buyer-seller long-term relationships. The purpose of the study is to investigate whether relationship satisfaction, relationship commitment, and trust act as antecedent variables for a single outcome of long-term orientation in automobile tire industries. Both antecedent and outcome variables have major roles in automobile tire industries' relationship marketing strategies. In addition, the research examines the relationship between satisfaction and commitment, relationship between satisfaction and trust and relationship between trust and commitment. The population is composed of automobile tire retailers that carry at least two tire brand names in their stores. Data were collected using on the instrument that had to be translated from English to Thai language and back translated into English to ensure the accuracy of translation. The scales for testing the variable were adapted from the previous studies and assessed for validity and reliability (Anderson and Weitz, 1992; Ganesan, 1994; Plank, Reid, and Pullings, 1999). A 7-ponit scale ranging from 1 (strongly disagree) to 7 (strong agree) was used to measure relationship satisfaction, relationship commitment, trust, and long-term orientation perceptions of automobile tire retailers regarding their automobile tire suppliers. The study analyzed data by using confirmatory factor analysis to test overall model fit and correlation analysis to test relationships among antecedents and outcome variables in the research model. The initial scales were revised by dropping the factors that loaded in second factor and called revised scales. Each of the multi-item scales was tested for reliability by using Cronbach alpha. Both the initial scales and the revised scales are found to be reliable. The results show that model fit based on the original scaled data fit poorly, due primarily to the cultural bias present when assigning meaning to the questions. The hypotheses tests showed that there was a positive relationship between the antecedent variables relationship satisfaction, relationship commitment, and trust and the outcome variable long-term orientation. The findings suggest that relationship satisfaction, relationship commitment, and trust are necessary for relationship longevity. Thai automobile tire suppliers should pursue a long-term orientation strategy with their channel partners by building and maintaining relationship satisfaction, relationship commitment, and trust.
