Social media is observed through a world of innovative internet technologies that has become increasingly popular among adolescents. The use of social media is believed to play a significant role in teenagers' ability to share information and build social connections with their peers. In this qualitative phenomenological research study, I aimed to understand the overall experiences of high school counselors and the opportunities and challenges that arise from social media use among high school students. To gain insight into these perspectives, I conducted eight individual interviews with current or recently retired professional school counselors. Participants were aged 23 and older with experience working in a high school setting with high school students. Each participant completed a demographics inventory, and I conducted semi-structured interviews using the Zoom virtual platform. I analyzed the data collected using Moustakas' approach, as detailed by Creswell, to organize data, create coding and themes, and establish trustworthiness. I found the following themes related to high school counselors' perspectives regarding social media use among high school students: (1) policy recommendations; (2) connection, engagement, and support; (3) impact on mental health; (4) cyberbullying and peer dynamics; (5) academic performance and motivation; (6) counselors' limited training; (7) social media educational initiatives; and (8) digital literacy and social skills.
