This dissertation examines the key factors influencing growth-stage decision-making in biotechnology startups, focusing on the strategic pathways of organic, inorganic, and hybrid growth strategies while sustaining product innovation. This study combines the resource-based view (RBV) and the institutional theory (IT) to give a full picture of how internal strengths and outside forces affect strategic decisions. Biotechnology startups operate in a resource-intensive, highly regulated environment with rapid innovation cycles and market competition. Through a systematic review of peer-reviewed research from the last 20 years, this study combines its findings into a conceptual framework that shows how organizational resources, regulatory demands, and financial mechanisms all work together in strategic decision-making. The results show that startups with strong intellectual property, research and development (R&D) skills, and operational efficiencies tend to choose organic growth strategies. On the other hand, inorganic strategies are driven by outside forces like investor expectations and market competition. Hybrid approaches offer flexibility by combining internal strengths with strategic alliances. Leadership and financial mechanisms play a crucial role in aligning growth objectives, ensuring adaptability, and sustaining innovation. This study adds to both theory and practice by combining RBV and IT to deal with the challenges of the growth stage and by creating a structured tool for making decisions. This tool helps biotechnology leaders assess internal capabilities, evaluate external pressures, and select optimal growth strategies. Practical recommendations include adopting evidence-based frameworks, developing leadership capabilities, and implementing balanced financial strategies. Future research should empirically validate the proposed framework in real-world applications. By advancing the understanding of growth strategies and innovation in biotechnology startups, this study provides valuable guidance for industry leaders navigating competitive and evolving markets.
