The topic of this study is the percentage of burnout employees in the hospitality and tourism industry experience. Employees of the hospitality and tourism industry are impacted by this problem. The purpose of this qualitative study, through phenomenological research design, addressed both the lived experiences of a sample of 17 employees from Spain and 15 employees from Hungary, via snowball sampling questionnaire method, which provided direct encounter for research analysis of employees in the hospitality and tourism industry who recently suffered from burnout, and to understand contributed factors to reduce employee burnout. This study was guided by a theoretical framework. A qualitative research design and methodology explored research participant's experiences through qualitative research inquiry procedures, and analysis included the NVivo software program used for coding data gathered to analyze themes. The following questions guided this study: RQ1. What are the lived experiences of employees in the hospitality and tourism industry in Spain in regard to employee burnout as it relates to workplace stress?RQ2. What are the lived experiences of employees in the hospitality and tourism industry in Hungary in regard to employee burnout as it relates to workload? Results aligned with existing research and theory, as demonstrated in the relationships between codes and themes. Negative implications included a lack of conflict management enforcement, which led to work-related stress. Positive implications included employee well-being. Recommendations on future research and practice is to conduct face-to-face interviews in different languages using a web-assisted translator to gain a global perspective on the impact of burnout in the hospitality and tourism industry.
