My research aims to understand and design immersive visualization systems for a future of intuitive scientific analysis. There are many problems worth solving within scientific visualization that require cross-disciplinary solutions. The areas I'm interested in are (i) the combination of disparate datasets, (ii) the facilitation of flow between experts who want to synchronously collaborate on geologic analysis tasks over different platforms, and (iii) the integration of data provenance and uncertainty characterization with immersive terrain visualizations to support scientific interpretation. Over the past four years, I've maintained a rich collaboration with planetary geologists and NASA mission engineers while exploring solutions to their data visualization challenges, especially around multi-scale, multi-layered terrain visualization. I envision a future where immersive, game-engine-powered platforms transform planetary data into dynamic, interactive environments that enable real-time, cross-disciplinary collaboration.
