Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) continues to evolve across a wide range of field strengths, from ultra-high-field (7T) to very-low-field (70 mT) systems. Despite their clinical potential, each regime presents unique challenges in RF coil design, affecting imaging quality, patient safety, and system accessibility. This dissertation introduces a series of innovations in antenna structures, multi-channel array configurations, safety enhancement techniques, and material-based performance improvements to address these challenges and expand MRI's diagnostic capabilities. At ultra-high fields, discretely dielectric-coated dipole (DDMC) antennas were developed to improve tuning stability, B1⁺ efficiency, and SAR control, offering a significant advancement over conventional designs. Complementary solenoidal dipole geometries further enhanced field uniformity for compact anatomical imaging. Extending these concepts to multi-channel arrays, systems such as a 15-channel DDMC dipole array and a 13-channel hybrid microstrip-birdcage array demonstrated improved B1⁺ coverage and SAR management across complex anatomical regions. Systematic evaluations of dipole types and array configurations provided new insights into optimizing SNR, field distribution, and inter-element coupling. At very-low-field, simulations revealed that superconducting materials substantially enhance coil SNR compared to room-temperature and low-temperature copper, particularly in surface coil designs. The integration of high-dielectric constant materials successfully mitigated electric fields and SAR in high-impedance coils, offering a pathway toward safer imaging. Finally, advanced catheter markers were designed for low-field interventional MRI, enabling robust, orientation-independent device visualization without disturbing background fields. Together, these advancements form a foundation for safer, higher-performance, and more accessible MRI systems, paving the way for future innovations in flexible coil arrays, dynamic SAR control, superconducting technologies, and portable MRI platforms.
