Barrera, M. (2023). Psychological Experience of women returning to work after maternity leave in Honduras. (Master Thesis in Clinical Health Psychology). Supervisor: Giedre Sirvinskiene. Lithuanian University of Health Sciences. Academy of Medicine, Faculty of Public Health, Department of Health Psychology: Kaunas. - 69 p. Honduras has one of the shortest maternity leave periods in Latin America. This carries consequences for the psychological well-being of women. This study aims to explore the psychological experience of women returning to work from maternity leave in Honduras. Seven new mothers with higher education from San Pedro Sula and Choloma city, Honduras were interviewed using an author-created semi-structured interview. The data in this qualitative study was analysed with Collaizi's phenomenological approach. The results show that maintaining breastfeeding after maternity leave was the most common challenge among women; the spouse represents the main social support network for a new mother; premature separation from the newborn, was associated with a negative impact on psychological well-being (guilt, sadness, anxiety, physical complaints); actions as sharing experience with other mothers and raise self-compassion are described as coping mechanism among women. This study concludes that the short length of paid time off in Honduras is associated with a decrease of psychological well-being of women when they return to work after maternity leave.

Barrera, M. (2023). Moteru, griztanciu i darba po motinystes atostogu Hondure, psichologine patirtis. (Klinikines sveikatos psichologijos magistro darbas). Vadovas: Giedre Sirvinskiene. Lietuvos sveikatos mokslu universitetas. Medicinos akademija, Visuomenes sveikatos fakultetas, Sveikatos psichologijos katedra: Kaunas. - 69 p. Hondure motinystes atostogos yra vienos trumpiausiu Lotynu Amerikoje. Tai turi pasekmiu moteru psichologinei gerovei. Sio tyrimo tikslas - istirti moteru, griztanciu i darba po motinystes atostogu Hondure, psichologine patirti.
