This dissertation centers around the concept of the digital accessibility divide in global higher education and the premise that digital higher education accessibility should be equitable for students with disabilities. This document analysis case study analyzed the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) communication and support criteria for six medium-sized, with enrollment of 2,000 - 15,000 students, global higher education institutions and produced findings in terms of percentages of alignment to those criteria. Alignment with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) provided the digital accessibility which is necessary to provide equitable access to higher education institutions online platforms for students with disabilities. The findings were that four of the six institutions did not fully align with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) communication and support criteria implicating that more work is needed to offer digital accessibility for students with disabilities.
