This dissertation investigates the propagation of infrasound waves in a waveguide with background flow and random fluctuations. For both homogeneous and inhomogeneous settings, we derive coupled mode equations and the corresponding equations for the reflection and transmission operators, which describe how modal energy is redistributed during propagation. Using asymptotic analysis and diffusion-approximation theory, we study the limiting behavior of these operators to characterize the transmitted pressure field. A case study with a piecewise-constant velocity profile demonstrates a parameter estimation method using sensor array data and validates the theoretical framework through numerical simulation.
