The problem of practice for this research was: French language students in an all-girls homogeneous, parochial secondary school setting lacked contact with the Francophone culture. Survey responses pre- and post-instruction in cultural lessons and journaling practice appeared to show that cultural humility can be increased. The findings suggest that journaling is a promising practice to add to a world language course. Journaling while learning French enables students to explore their biases and cultural limitations. This experience provides practical suggestions for language teachers and school leaders who are working to provide more culturally responsive teaching.
