Schools for Foreign Nationals (SCFN) in China face different challenges than public schools. These challenges include cultural differences regarding what may constitute quality education, lack of leadership style consensus, misaligned expectations of efficiency and often changing perspectives which cause inconsistent prioritization during change cycles. The problem addressed by this quantitative predictive correlational study was leaders in SCFNs struggle to build and maintain legitimate and stable institutional practices due to frequent changes in organizational health that creates precarity. The study was to determine if organizational health, as examined through the presence of Servant Leadership (SL) within the organization, was a predictor of the employees' reported job satisfaction and work engagement. The study was conducted in one multicultural international school and included 157 participants with varied years of experience and roles. The results showed that the practice of SL was a predictor of job satisfaction and work engagement. The study provided insights into effective leadership practices in a precarious context which is critically needed for understanding growth and attrition within this market. The result of the study can be used for focused professional development in specific leadership characteristics for foreign and Chinese leaders, with an additional focus on sustainable growth through building organizational health. Recommendations for practice incorporate the implementation of professional learning groups, building leader authentic practice, ensuring roles are defined, and establishing growth plans for team members to ensure motivation.Recommendations for future research include increased studies on job satisfaction and burnout, as well as continued analysis of the challenges of leadership within the SCFN context.
