The purpose of this qualitative descriptive study was to explore how Counselor Education and Supervision (CES) doctoral students within a fully online program in the United States describe the influence of sense of community and acceptance of responsibilities on their professional identity development. The target population was CES doctoral students who are LPCs or LPC-Associates within the United States. The research used a questionnaire and one-on-one semi-structured interviews as instruments. The research was guided by an overarching research question: "How do Counselor Education and Supervision (CES) doctoral students within a fully online program in the United States describe the influence of sense of community (membership, influence, integration, and fulfillment of needs, shared emotional connection) and acceptance of responsibilities on their professional identity development? Data analysis used thematic analysis to answer the problem statement. The theoretical foundation for this study was sense of community (SOC) and professional identity transformation (PIT). This study found belongingness, personal investment, validation, support, and shared experiences essential to their professional identity development.
