This treatise contains an historical account of the development of the Suzuki Flute Method from the inception of the Suzuki Method to the present and includes biographical information of Shinichi Suzuki and Toshio Takahashi. Though there is much published information about the Suzuki Method, very little pertains specifically to the flute method. Included in this treatise are descriptions of the Suzuki Flute School repertoire and the Talent Education Institute in Matsumoto, Japan. Coursework for the Institute is included in an appendix, as is the repertoire for all published and unpublished volumes of the Suzuki Flute Method. The author studied the Suzuki Flute Method from 1987-1995 with Rebecca Paluzzi at the East Tennessee Suzuki Program and with Toshio Takahashi in Johnson City, Tennessee, and Matsumoto, Japan. Some information presented in this treatise comes from the author's experience learning music through the Suzuki Method, substitute teaching for the East Tennessee Suzuki Program, and teaching with traditional approaches.
