The study investigates the impact of a project-based learning approach on self-efficacy and career readiness in an introductory music technology course. Noteworthy findings reveal a positive influence on self-efficacy, bridging gaps between students with varying music technology backgrounds. Correlations between enhanced career readiness and higher self-efficacy underscore the importance of instruction that both recognizes and is tailored to diverse student motivations. Identified industry concerns, such as quantization and equalization issues within music projects, emphasize the need for targeted instruction. The study advocates for dynamic syllabus design, adapting to student feedback to improve student's focus and quality of their submitted projects. Educators are urged to embrace project-based learning, personalized instruction, and adaptability, while students are encouraged to actively engage, communicate preferences, and address industry-identified issues for optimal learning outcomes. Despite study limitations, the research offers valuable insights and calls for further studies that expand upon the variables that are studied.
