This study included a generic qualitative exploration conducted through Zoom-mediated interviews to investigate the experiences of patrol officers and the psychological impact of the organizational stress of law enforcement, emphasizing police leadership. The importance of effective leadership in law enforcement cannot be overstated, particularly considering the increasing demand for strong and ethical leaders equipped to address society's evolving needs and challenges. Supervisors who exemplify authentic leadership by practicing mindfulness, fostering transparency in their relationships, maintaining a strong moral compass, and employing a balanced decision-making approach are likelier to cultivate trusting relationships with their subordinates. The objective of this study was to shift the focus from individual officers to the leadership dynamics within police organizations, recognizing the significant influence exerted by higher-ranking officers. Evidence indicates that organizational stressors detrimentally affect officers' daily functioning and mental well-being. The research question guiding this investigation was as follows: What is the experience of patrol officers and the psychological impact of organizational stress in law enforcement, emphasizing police leadership? Transcribed interviews were analyzed using thematic analysis, incorporating inductive and deductive methodologies. The study revealed three major themes, highlighting the importance of police leadership: (a) ineffective police leadership contributing to disarray, (b) effective police leadership fostering an optimal work environment, and (c) police culture creating ambivalence. The study concluded with a discussion of its limitations and recommendations for future research.
