This thesis hopes to display the Christological approach of Bonaventure in the Breviloquium, while describing Christ as the Center and Healer. In addition, it recommends this model of restoration and healing as a striking example for the Church's response to the manifold divisions and conflicts found in contemporary society. This thesis has been organized into three chapters. The first chapter presents Bonaventure as a restorer of unity within the Franciscan Order, something he accomplished through his writings and through the life he lived. Conducting five general chapters as the General Minister of his Order in the turbulent mid-thirteenth century, he labored strenuously for legitimate peace and reconciliation in his Order and in the Church as well. The second chapter studies the Christocentric vision of Bonaventure in the Breviloquium. This section will focus on how Bonaventure systematically understood the Incarnate Word as the Center and Healer. The third chapter, based on the invitation of Gaudium et Spes to form a family of brotherhood and a single community on earth, and the call of both Ratzinger and Pope Francis to create on earth a fraternity that is healed and reconciled with one another, affirms that the mission of the Church is nothing but the continued mission of Christ in restoring unity, harmony, and peace, a major Christological theme in Bonaventure's theology.
