The New Canaan Library is one of the most important buildings located in this town in the state of Connecticut. Its architecture, built in 1913, expresses the evolution that this building went through in the 20th century. Its purpose was always to serve the residents and raise a better service based on the needs that the people of New Canaan always required. Currently, this building went through a change process and decisions that altered the original product of its entire complex, its change would be affected by the new construction of a much larger library. Its location and approach questioned the decisions to intervene against a space considered historic. The following document explains the value and significant history that this 1913 library symbolizes for the town. Through site analysis and research of local academic sources, this thesis was carried out to demonstrate the great importance of this 1913 library in order to defend the concept of integrity. Concept that based and help of architectural referents to understand and provide a different conclusion and recommendation towards the decision to alter a historic building and defend the historic architectural integrity.
