This study evaluates the effectiveness of Reminiscence Therapy (RT) in improving cognitive function among dementia patients, using the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) as a measurement tool. A pre-and post-intervention design was employed with a sample of 30 dementia patients who underwent RT sessions over six weeks. The cognitive levels were assessed before and after the intervention. The pre-intervention MMSE scores had a mean (M) of 19.6 with a standard deviation (SD) of 3.7, while the post-intervention scores showed a mean of 19.8 with an SD of 3.9. The 95% confidence interval for the difference in cognitive scores ranged from -0.66 to 0.26, indicating no significant improvement. The t-value of -0.88 and a p-value of 0.38 further support the null hypothesis, suggesting that the observed changes in cognitive scores were not statistically significant. The findings indicate that RT did not significantly improve cognitive function as measured by MMSE. Future research should explore long-term effects, utilize larger sample sizes, and incorporate various assessment tools to capture a comprehensive impact of RT.
