This thesis centers on the idea that our body perception changes as we switch through an experience outside to one inside. Starting with analysis on the works of Oskar Schlemmer, Rebecca Horn, and Hakanai, the study of the body's natural ability to adapt to its environment, made it clear that the experience is tied to the materiality we're surrounded by. The primary aim of this thesis is to explore the range of bodily experiences, focusing on the use of representational materials, body feedback, and spatial manipulation. This exploration seeks to illuminate how the body's perception can be positively shaped and adjusted. Incorporating these elements into interior spaces facilitates a smoother transition to a state of relaxation.Studying installation works inspired by these elements serve as ideal subjects for investigation, as they expertly engage the senses through a delicate interplay of natural and artificial spatial manipulation. Notably, previous cases and in-depth studies have overlooked the significance of synesthesia and haptic considerations. The thoughtful selection and application of materials within these spaces are crucial in nurturing a harmonious relationship between occupants and their surroundings. Material performance takes precedence, while representation plays a less prominent role. The fusion of relatability and comfort complements each other, making an in-depth understanding of how perception is the cornerstone of crafting spaces tailored for comfort and repose.
