Black women in the United States have not had an easy trek since they arrived on the first slave ship in Jamestown in 1619. Black feminists have documented the experiences that Black women have had to overcome, repeatedly. However, being a Black Deaf woman, there is limited research that documents the experiences that Black Deaf women have encountered in the United States. This autoethnography will explore the lived experiences of the researcher's journey from a child through adulthood as a Black Deaf woman from the south from a generational Black Deaf family. The aim is to provide a narrative that stresses the importance of providing a space for Black Deaf women to be able to express themselves in areas of education, employment, and recreation without judgment or fear.
