This is the first book exploring Europe's engagement with the Indo-Pacific region. Its novel comparative perspective favours a "bird's eye view" of Europe's unfolding Indo-Pacific pivot and nuances the many priorities and mechanisms that are involved in this process. The volume provides a wide-scoped account of Europe's policies on the Indo-Pacific, comprising both the EU and Europe's major, middle, and minor powers. It also offers a careful assessment of the resulting implications, including trends, commonalities and differences, advantages and risks, and consequences for cross-regional cooperation. Endorsed by experts from universities, think tanks, and international institutions, this book is meant for academics, policymakers, and diplomats, as well as journalists and students interested in Europe's growing focus on the Indo-Pacific. Dr. Gabriele Abbondanza is Assistant Professor of International Relations at Comillas Pontifical University (Spain); Associate Researcher at the University of Sydney (Australia); and Associate Fellow at the Italian Institute of International Affairs - IAI (Italy). He is a former Marie Curie Fellow and lecturer at the Complutense University of Madrid. He specialises in the Indo-Pacific, Australian and Italian foreign policy; irregular migration governance; and middle power and great power theory. He has published widely on these subjects, including numerous articles in leading journals, four monographs, and two edited volumes. Dr. Abbondanza teaches international relations, security studies, and migration politics, and he regularly contributes to media, public, and institutional debates. Dr. Gorana Grgić is a Senior Researcher in Transatlantic Security and Acting Head of the Swiss and Euro-Atlantic Security team at the ETH Zürich's Center for Security Studies. She is also a Senior Lecturer at the United States Studies Centre at the University of Sydney and a non-resident Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council's Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security. Gorana's research interests include US and EU foreign policy, NATO, and the nexus between Euro-Atlantic and Indo-Pacific security. She has held academic and advisory roles across institutions in Europe, Australia, and the United States, and frequently contributes to international media.
