Chapter 1. Introduction -- Chapter 2. Fr. André Scrima (1925-2000) - Bio-bibliographic Landmark -- Chapter 3. Fr. Andre Scrima in the Archives of the Securitate -- Chapter 3. Fr. Andre Scrima's Ecumenical Activity Reflected in the Dossiers of the Securitate -- Chapter 4. Conclusions.
This book explores the ecumenical activity of Fr. Andre Scrima (1925-2000), a Romanian theologian in exile who played a significant role in the Second Vatican Council. Drawing on previously unpublished sources, it examines how his work and influence were closely monitored by the Romanian Communist regime, shedding light on the surveillance strategies of the Securitate. In addition to uncovering state security records-presented in a unique appendix-the book offers a comprehensive study of Scrima's theological contributions, his role as a professor and writer, and his relationships within the Romanian exile community, particularly in France. Building on the author's extensive research published in academic journals and edited volumes, this work provides an essential resource for scholars of religious studies, church history, and Cold War-era intellectual movements. Iuliu-Marius Morariu is a PhD in Theology at "Babeș-Bolyai" University in Cluj-Napoca, Romania and a PhD in Social Sciences in Angelicum Pontifical University in Rome. He is an associate researcher of University of Pretoria South Africa and a honorary member of the Academy of Romanian Scientists, New York Brench. He published, edited, coordinated or translated over 50 books and more more than 200 studies, articles and book reviews in Romania and abroad (96 of them indexed WOS). In 2021 and 2023 he received the Excellence Prize from "Babeș-Bolyai" University in Cluj-Napoca and was classified according to the Stanford University classification among the first 2% of the world researchers in his field, due to the number of quotations of his works. He is member of the editorial and scientific board of 12 journals of theology, religion, sociology and history. He realizes magazines for Radio Renașterea in Cluj-Napoca, doxologia.ro (the portal of the Metropolitan See of Moldavia and Bucovina) and Nașul Tv Canada (Montreal).
