Chapter 1. A history in the making: emerging sustainable development -- Chapter 2. Social enterprises: Profit for social development -- Chapter 3. Collaborative change and the social enterprise -- Chapter 4. Co-creating value and added value through social enterprises -- Chapter 5. Social enterprises: The Road ahead.
This book explores the concept of co-creation in social enterprises, examining its development through the historical backdrop of Latin America and the Caribbean. It highlights the impacts of conquest, colonialism, and dictatorships on current institutions, organizations, and businesses, emphasizing the crucial role of social enterprises in fostering human and sustainable development. It explores how social accountability facilitates co-creation of value at both micro and macro levels, thereby, impacting regional and, ultimately, global growth and development. Addressing the root causes for the region lagging behind in growth and development, this volume proposes a model to plan strategically for the co-creation of added value, aimed at enhancing the well-being of current and future generations. Aimed at scholars interested in the effects of shared responsibility in social enterprise dynamics, this book offers an understanding of the origins of social issues in Latin America and the Caribbean and creates a path for four different groups of stakeholders to take action. Andrée Marie López-Fernández is a Business Professor and Researcher at Universidad Panamericana, Mexico, as well as an Associate Editor for Emerging Markets Case Studies (EMCS). Her main line of research is Corporate Social Responsibility, which converges with the study of stakeholder added value, marketing and strategic management, corporate governance, innovation, social networks, and consumer behavior, amongst others.
