Mathematical knowledge has a major role in our everyday life. Existing literature suggests that the home numeracy environment contributes to children's mathematics development. However, these relationships are complex and not fully understood. Home numeracy may be influenced by several implicit (such as parents' and children's mathematics anxiety) and explicit (such as playing board games) factors. Some of the factors have been targeted in previous studies, while some are under scrutinized. In terms of technologies for home numeracy practice, modern digital tools like smartphone apps are a more recent addition to the home numeracy environment. Currently, the extent to which digital practices have been integrated into home numeracy, particularly during elementary and middle childhood, is not known. To address this gap in the literature, three studies were conducted to establish and test a newly proposed model of digital home numeracy practices (DHNP). The DHNP model was conceptualized in the first study. Then, the second study described an evaluation work where a measurement inventory of the DHNP was validated. Finally, the third study assessed components of the DHNP model and also investigated the relations among DHNP and children's mathematics knowledge across five domains (numeration, number operation, spatial sense, pattern recognition, and applied problem-solving). Theoretical and practical implications are presented based on this research that can guide future studies of how families are digitizing their children's home numeracy environment.
