Thesis (Ph.D.)--Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, 2023.
The title for this dissertation is: "Leading from Weakness: A Biblical Model for Christian Leadership." The thesis statement of this dissertation is "leading from weakness" is foundational for a biblical model of Christian leadership. Through a qualitative study that focuses on the biblical text, the goal of the study was to offer a Bible-based model of leadership. The study begins by offering background on leadership models and a definition of Christian leadership.{A0}First, this study focuses on selected Old Testament examples for a biblical model of leading from weakness. Examples of biblical leaders in the Old Testament that provide foundational support for this study include Moses, Gideon, David, Jehoshaphat and Uzziah. Second, this study explores how Jesus Christ is the biblical model of leading from weakness by investigating how the concept of leading from weakness is evident in his life, ministry, and teaching.{A0}The study also analyzes the Apostle Peter and Apostle Paul as models of leading from weakness. The final chapter seeks to synthesize the research in order to determine any rationale and implications for leading from weakness as a biblical model for Christian leadership. A proposal for leading from weakness draws from insights gained from the biblical analysis provided in chapters 2 through 5 and from leadership literature.
