Thesis (D.N.P.)--Wilmington University (Delaware), 2024.
Background: Burnout is a prevalent healthcare problem afflicting healthcare providers. This result in emotional fatigue, lack of motivation, and increased risk of adverse patient outcomes due to the risk of errors.Local problem: About 50% of healthcare providers working at the practice experience site report burnout symptoms. However, most are unaware of interventions for reducing burnout. Methods: The project implemented a quality improvement process. Healthcare providers were educated on mindfulness intervention. They implemented the intervention twice a week. The project lasted six weeks, and burnout levels were collected before and after the intervention. Results: The project had 18 participants who were mostly registered nurses, female, and White. There was a reduction in burnout after six weeks of intervention (p < .001).Discussion: Healthcare providers should implement mindfulness interventions to promote burnout reduction, thereby facilitating patient-centered care.
