In a world marked by political, ecological, and social injustice, my artistic endeavour aims to connect with one's self, others and the environment. The exhibition, 'Ika duja' - the Other one - seeks to redefine and amplify our capacity for connection while deepening our understanding of interdependence. It expresses personal growth, evolution, and acceptance, reflecting inwardly and outwardly. Through various media and an interdisciplinary approach, the exhibition emphasizes the fundamental unity between the individual "I" and the collective "we" - the Other - and how this unity expands our ability to empathize. By cultivating empathy, we can deconstruct and challenge prevailing social structures and decolonize our mindset. I adopt an intersectional approach that challenges conventional notions of self, belonging, and rigid interpretations of artistic works. This approach serves as a reflection and response to contemporary patterns of colonialism that persist in society. Through the choice of forms, subjects, processes, and materials in my work, I actively engage in decolonization, aiming to dismantle and confront these patterns. Moreover, by acknowledging the formal relationships among various disciplines, mediums, and dimensions, I visually express ideas of decoloniality and promote collaboration and coexistence.An interdisciplinary and intersectional approach is essential in challenging dominant disciplinary frameworks that perpetuate colonialism and other oppressive systems. It is crucial to break free from the colonial framework in order to pursue freedom of expression and a sense of belonging. This involves dismantling restrictive cultural and social constructs and rejecting assigned identities. It requires engaging with "the other," embracing{A0}alternative perspectives, and transcending the categories, hierarchies, and binaries ingrained in colonial thinking. This gesture of engagement sparks discovery and activates internal and external forces of learning. Embracing intersectionality and interdisciplinarity allows us to navigate the complexities of our interconnected selves better. Therefore, I explore diverse subjects, materials, and forms based on personal interest and their inherent relationships and connections.
