Thesis (Ph.D.)--Regent University, 2024.
There is an urgent need within the field of addiction that beckons the implementation of newer ideas that would cater to the complete wholeness of individuals who suffer from addiction disease. There has not been, at the time of this dissertation, a curriculum or a program that implements RCBT and DSES strategies solely for people with addiction disease. However, recent empirical evidence shows that the implementation of religious and spiritual exercises supports persistence, buffering the strain revealed in traumatic growth, and providing a sense of directive and intent for life stressors, substance use, and weariness. The program curriculum aims to support and enhance the recovery process and create long-term sustained recovery by re-training clinicians with the implementation, use, and understanding of RCBT (Religious Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) with the use of DSES (Daily Spiritual Experience Scale) to monitor efficacy in patients. This curriculum is intended to continue to be built upon to cater to persons of all faiths and religious backgrounds. However, for this initial curriculum, the religion and spirituality will be based on Christianity and the teachings of Jesus Christ as recorded in the Bible.
