According to data from the US Department of Labor, reading as a hobby is in decline. However, this does not imply that people no longer have an interest in reading. Based on my interviews and observations of individuals' plans, many young adults express a desire to read more, however, they struggle to implement it.To investigate this issue, I conducted several activities, including interviewing readers, a librarian, and a psychologist. Through this process, I narrowed down the question to how to encourage reluctant readers to read more by cultivating a comfortable environment for reading.To address this challenge, I developed MIbrary, an innovative screensaver app that presents a curated, full-size digital bookshelf on users' TV or projector screens. Its interactive function, achieved by a depth camera, allows users to pick a book with just one tap of their finger. MIbrary serves as a constant reminder to read and keeps people connected with books.
