Online learning has become popular for corporations to train their professionals and has increased in usage since COVID-19. Online learning enables learners to take courses alone via self-directed learning, with other students in a synchronous environment, or via a blended combination of self-directed and instructor-led learning. Multiple trending technologies provide media to enable online learning, modalities improve the learners' experiences, and instructional practices define how to deliver the content to learners. Learning and development professionals need a source that provides synthesized analysis that they can use to help them determine which online instructional practices and trending educational technologies could work best for their learners' and companies' needs. The purpose of this systematic literature review is to analyze and synthesize existing research related to online instructional practices and trending educational technologies used for corporate training to determine which are effective and to make recommendations for implementing and evaluating them. The findings revealed that educational technologies drive learning outcomes. Instructional best practices are blended modalities, interaction, critical thinking, and emotional connections to content. Finally, using a measuring and evaluation model helps to ensure results-driven learning.
