As VR technology gradually enters the mainstream market, the development of VR horror games has also been intensified. The high degree of immersion in VR media and the improvement of game graphics cause VR horror games to have a higher level of interaction with players than traditional horror video games. Therefore, VR horror games are more likely to negatively impact players, including causing psychological trauma. We have reason to believe that VR horror games apply horror elements that are more than those applied by traditional horror videogames. The horror elements of VR horror games should be controlled within a reasonable range to reduce the degree of horror, thereby reducing the negative impact on players. This article will discuss which elements of VR horror games should be controlled and possible solutions to this problem based on existing relevant experiments and the investigation of players.
