在現有的二戰後香港文學研究中，現代主義一直是申述主體性的關鍵。相關討論多以一九五○至六○年代之交短暫的香港現代主義運動為焦點。在西方，現代主義文化的價值體現在其對資本主義文明的美學敵對意識上，美學與社會現代性相悖而行。西西、也斯是極具代表性的本地成長作家，先後在一九五○、六○年代進入本地文壇。目前的「本土」論述傾向突出他們一九七○年代以降作品中關注地方生活的面向，而鮮少以現代主義美學為線索。在現代藝術史上，發源於歐洲的現代主義文化在跨國傳播中持續流變。興起於十九世紀法國的前衛藝術革新潮流，原本具備社會主義面向，有意連結藝術與生活、大眾，是相對積極、入世的美學革新潮流。它的後續變化，與各地的政治情勢不無關係。二戰後的香港擁有兩岸三地最開放的文化及政治空間，令本地文學生產一直受各種文化政治意識形態影響。六○年代中期以降，香港、海外的政治及社會運動風起雲湧，進一步衝擊著本地文學發展。西西和也斯的跨藝術範疇學養極為豐富。如果香港文學仍以現代主義申述其文化主體性，應以政治與現代主義美學觀念流變的關係為線索，考察二人的「本土」文學寫作。本文以香港一九六○至八○年代的冷戰文化政治變遷為參考，考察西西、也斯的跨藝術範疇寫作歷程。論文共分七章，主體五章。第二章從西西在六○ 年代跨越繪畫、電影的寫作出發，追蹤她建立形式實驗美學觀的過程，提出其前衛革新精神的現實關懷。第三、四章考察西西一九六○至八○年代的文學創作，展示她如何堅持藉語言、形式實驗，刺激讀者思考，引導他們對本土、中國現代化進程及兩地關係的想像。第五章從也斯早期的歐美文藝評介出發，借助晚期現代主義的觀念，追蹤他建立「發現詩學」美學觀的歷程。第六章聚焦也斯一九七○年至八○年代的現代詩及小說創作，提出他如何藉修辭促進讀者思考，持續更新他對本地及中國文化、社會發展的省思。本文指出，兩位作家始終堅守美學的獨特價值，以及潛藏其中的社會性革新力量。這突顯了以現代主義為角度，考察二人「本土」文學寫作的價值及必要性。.

520 $a In existing post-World War II Hong Kong literature research, modernism has always been the key to declaring the subjectivity of local literature. Such discussions mainly focus on the short-lived Hong Kong modernist movement in the 1950s and 1960s. In the Western world, the value of modernist culture is embodied in its sense of artistic hostility towards the capitalist civilization. The aesthetic modernity serves a counter force towards the social modernity. Iconic local writers Xi Xi and Ye Si entered the local literary field in the 1950s and 1960s in succession. Discussions that emphasized "locality" tend to highlight the aspect of local life in their works since the 1970s, and rarely use modernist aesthetics as a clue.In the history of modern art, the modernist culture originating in Europe continues to transform when transnationally spread. The avant-garde artistic innovation trend that originally emerged in France in the nineteenth century had a socialist orientation, which intended to link art with the living and the public. It was a relatively active and initiative aesthetic innovation trend. Its subsequent changes are closely related to the political situation in different places. In the post-World War II period, Hong Kong owns the most open cultural and political space among the Chinese circle. The local literary production is therefore influenced by various cultural and political ideologies. Since the mid-1960s, local and overseas political and social movements were surging, further influencing the development of local literature. Both Xi Xi and Ye Si had a rich knowledge across different art fields. If Hong Kong Literature still attempts to take modernism to show its cultural subjectivity, it is worth examining their "local" literary writing from the perspective of modernism, where there is a relationship between politics and the evolution of modernist aesthetic concepts as clue.This paper examines the cultural influence of Cold War era politics in Hong Kong and focuses on Xi Xi and Ye Si's interdisciplinary writing during the 1960s to 1980s period. It is divided into seven chapters with five key chapters: chapter 2 starts from Xi Xi's writings across painting and film in the 1960s, which tracing the shape of her formalist experiment innovation spirit and reveals the realistic caring underneath. Chapters 3 and 4 then examine Xi Xi's literary writings between 1960s and 1980s, proposing how she stimulates readers' thinking through language and formal experiments, guiding their imagination towards the local and modernization process, as well as the relationship between the two places. Chapter 5 analyzes the criticism of European and American literature and art in Ye Si's youth, using the concept of late modernism to trace the shaping process of his "discovering poetics" concept. The sixth chapter focuses on Ye Si's poetry and novel writings from the 1970s to 1980s, proposing how he promotes readers' thinking within rhetoric, and keeps sharing his deep concerns towards the development of local and Chinese literature and society. This paper illustrates the two writers are firm believers in the unique value of aesthetics and the hidden power of social innovation. This underlines the value and necessity to examining their "local" literary writing from the perspective of modernism.
